September 21, 2011 Lori Eklund Promoted to Deputy Director at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art

Fort Worth, TX, September 21, 2011—Amon Carter Museum of American Art Director Andrew Walker announced today that Lori Eklund has been promoted to Deputy Director. In this expanded role, she will oversee the museum’s Education, Exhibition Design, Facilities, Information Technology, Installation and Prep, Publications, Public Information, Registration, Retail, and Security Departments.

“Over the course of the last decade, Lori has expertly supported the Amon Carter’s mission to collect, preserve and exhibit the finest examples of American art,” says Walker. “Under her leadership, the museum has expanded its innovative educational initiatives, exhibitions and publications devoted to the study of American art.”

Eklund began her tenure in 2001 as Director of Education. She was promoted to Director of Outreach in 2004 and has served as Chief Operations Officer since 2007. Prior to joining the Amon Carter, Eklund worked in the education departments of the El Paso Museum of Art and the Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas. Eklund holds a B.A. in visual art education and an M.A. in art history from the University of Kansas.
