Dallas collector Trevor Rees-Jones first became interested in art and the American West when visiting the Amon Carter Museum of American Art as a young boy. Years later, that experience led him to assemble one of the finest private collections of art of the American West, spanning the 18th century through the 1920s, including paintings, watercolors, sculptures, and photographs. The selection of the Rees-Jones Collection on view marks its debut showing in a museum.

The exhibition includes stately portraits, accurate renditions of daily life, majestic landscapes, and romantic visions, all of which contribute to our present understanding of the West today. Visitors to the exhibition will enjoy examples by well-known artists Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, as well as George Catlin, E.I. Couse, Henry Farny, and Joseph Sharp, among others.
