Event Description

Join us for our annual Party on the Porch for an evening of art, food, music, and fun! Explore the galleries, get creative with art-making activities inspired by The World Outside: Louise Nevelson at Midcentury, and live music by Summer Dean and Alejandro Escovedo. Guests can also explore Come to Colorado, Leonardo Drew: Number 235T, and Avedon’s West during extended gallery hours. Food trucks will offer a variety of food and drink options for purchase and bars will be set up throughout the Museum grounds. Members can enjoy free drinks and lite bites at the Member Patio.  Not a member? Join today!

Sensory Station, 6–8 p.m. | Gallery A
Experience artworks using your senses at our hands-on sensory stations.

Library Open House, 6–8 p.m. | Library
Join us for a tour of the Library and Archives and explore rarely seen treasures related to Richard Avedon.

Mixed-Material Landscapes, 6–9 p.m. | Atrium
Get inspired by Louise Nevelson’s sculptural landscapes and make your own 3D work of art.

Nevelson Block Party, 6–9 p.m. | Porch
Build teetering towers and sculptures using building blocks and found objects. Best for little ones, but all ages welcome!

Stamp-Stack Sketchbook Compositions, 6–9 p.m. | Porch
Decorate the cover of a notebook with your own Nevelson-inspired artwork using a variety of stamps.

Exhibition Overview, 6–9 p.m. | The World Outside
Stop by to chat with a Carter Community Volunteer and learn about the exhibition.

Family Scavenger Hunt, 6–9:30 p.m. | The World Outside
Look closely at Nevelson’s sculptures and see how many objects you can find!

Fresh Voices Art Discovery Guide, 6–9:30 p.m. | Gallery A
You can’t come to the Museum without exploring the galleries! Take a self-guided tour with this year’s Carter Community Artists and learn about what they find inspiring in our collection.

Carter Member Patio, 6–10 p.m. | Left of Stage
Enjoy our special members-only patio with free drinks and food. Become a Carter member today at the membership table outside or in the Museum Shop.

Food Trucks & Vendors, 6–10 p.m. | Parking Lot & Will Rogers Road
Grab a bite to eat from local food trucks and enjoy a picnic on the Museum lawn. Food and drinks available for purchase. Food and drinks are not permitted in the Museum building.

Pop-Up Museum Shop, 6–10 p.m. | Plaza
Bring the Carter home with you! Visit the Museum Shop inside to discover more!

Party on the Porch is free to all visitors! Free tickets are available online. All ages require a free ticket to enter the event, including infants and toddlers.
