Event Description

Paper Forum members are invited to join artist Sandow Birk and master printer Paul Mullowney for a conversation about their collaboration on the Carter’s recent acquisition, White Out: A Monumental Arch to America. Standing over 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide, the direct gravure etching—made from 24 copper plates—is a tour-de-force of contemporary printmaking. The artist and printer will share a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this monumental work, now on view at the Carter for the first time in the galleries.
