Event Description

Carter members and their guests have the first chance to view Faces from the Interior: The North American Portraits of Karl Bodmer. Highlighting the diverse histories of the Omaha, Ponca, Yankton, Lakota, Mandan, Hidatsa, Assiniboine, and Blackfoot Nations, this exhibition features over 60 recently conserved watercolor portraits from the mid-1800s and offers added layers of contemporary Indigenous artists’ and scholars’ voices.
