Let’s make (and learn about) history! Explore U.S. history, geography, and symbolism in the Carter’s collection and special exhibitions during this sensory-friendly event for neurodivergent adults. Learn from history experts, create artwork to take home with you, and share your interests with new friends in the galleries as we look at art together.

While the needs of neurodivergent adults are the focus of this drop-in event, it is also fun for family and friends of all abilities.

Activities

• Chat with neighborhood educator, community curator, and bookseller Dev’n Goodman in The Statue of Liberty from Bartholdi to Warhol at 6 p.m.
• Create magnetic mixed media artworks with Carter Community Artist Carolyn Marco. Participate in an adaptive critique conversation at 7 p.m.
• Create carbon paper sketches and touch tactile representations of John Quincy Adams Ward’s The Freedman.
• Learn about the symbolism of Colonial American gravestones and create your own rubbings in Here Lyeth: Grave Rubbings by Ann Parker and Avon Neal.
• Explore the galleries and socialize to your comfort level with our friends at UNT EPIC.
