u.l. to c.: The Puye ruins situated about 50miles north \ of Santa Fe are typical of the prehistoric \ ruins which dot the plateau of New Mexico and \ Arizona, and which recentlyhave become objects \ of intensive archeological study. The \ inhabitants of the cliff dwellings were the \ ancestor's [sic] of the pueblo Indians. \ The photographs [s crossed out] shows the cave, which was the \ nucleous of the dwelling, the row of holes \ in the rock, which supported the ceiling beams, \ and the remains of the outer wall. There are \ several rows of these dwellings on the face of \ the Puye rock, all connected with primitive \ stairways hewn in the rock.
