    l.c.: LONG'S PEAK. \ This peak is a spur or offshoot of the Great Sawatch or Snowy Range of the Rocky Mountains, and is distant about 60 miles from Denver. Its approxi- \ mate height is 14,500 feet. The sketch is taken from the Great American Plains, within 10 miles of the Eastern Slope of the Mountains. Distance from the \ point of observation to the summit of Long's Peak, air line, 42 miles; to the Eastern Slope on the left, 10 miles; to the Eastern Slope on the right, 25 miles.
