    u.l. to u.r. in ink: I was with the Byers party that dedicated Mt. Bross with the first flag \ that ever floated over this section. July 4, 1871. you can see another \ flag=staff we erected on the same day, immediately in front of the log \ cabin. The Utes didn't take kindly to the American flag, and \ have since upset the pol.
