    u.l. printed: HOPI INDIAN PUEBLO, ORAIBI, ARIZONA. \ Hopi land is in north western Arizona and Oraibi is one \ of the principal villages containing a population of about \ 1200 Indians. \ The houses are built on the style of many other pueblos \ consisting of community terraced houses made into hundreds \ of rooms. The houses are sometimes six and seven stories, \ each terrace being built well back of the one below. The roof \ of the rooms below answering for the front yard of the one im- \ mediately above. They form a picturesque sight resembling \ a giant stairway.
