c.r. to l.r. printed: Cave of the Winds \\ The volume of descending water seen on \ right of picture, issues from between Luna \ and Goat Islands, and is known as Center \ Fall. Under this Fall, at the foot of the \ precipice, is a place named the "Cave of \ the Winds." This so-called cave is one \ hundred feet in height and sixty feet in \ depth, and is formed by a projecting \ ledge of limestone, which has resisted the \ action of the water, while the softer strata \ beneath has been worn away. The cave \ is so named from the powerful air currents \ generated by the pressure of the falling \ water, and which reminds one of a storm \ of great violence.
