u.l. to c.l.: The Approach to Acoma \\ At the foot of the rock all vehicles have \ to be abandoned. The path leading to the \ pueblo first follows the slowly rising crest \ of a sand dune, which curves along the foot \ of the rock, then it stops, and one climbs \ the almost perpendicular rock along well worn \ footholds hewn in the soft rock xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx \ clinging to the little projections and hollows, \ where thousands of other hands have left their \ imprint.
