In 2021, the Carter celebrated 60 years. 60 years of collecting. Curating. Carefully preserving. 60 years of showing off the classics and showcasing the new. 60 years of building momentum, gaining energy, creating inspiration, finding connections, and sharing our vision. We celebrateed 60 years of American art all year long because of the generosity and support, year after year, of the community we love. Look back on our story and look forward to our journey ahead.

60 years of celebration

On Saturday, September 25, we celebrated 60 years with our biggest, loudest, boldest party yet! We opened two new exhibitions, invited the entire community for family friendly hands-on art experiences with some of our Carter Community Artists, and grooved to live music with Shakey Graves. And we topped it all off with a spectacular fireworks show. Whew . . . what a party! Here’s to the next 60!
