Creative Visions: Cynthia Brants and Ruth Carter Stevenson explores the friendship between artist Cynthia Brants and Ruth Carter Stevenson and its lasting influence on the cultural landscape of Fort Worth.

Brants and Stevenson met as children and remained close throughout their lives. At Sarah Lawrence College, Brants introduced Stevenson to European modernism, helping her develop an artistic vision independent of the Western art collection of her father, Amon G. Carter Sr. Through Brants, Stevenson encountered new artists and ideas and became increasingly involved in Fort Worth’s emerging modernist art community.

Featuring 22 works on paper, including works by Brants and artists connected to the Fort Worth Circle, Creative Visions reveals how friendship and collaboration helped shape Fort Worth’s modernist art community and, ultimately, led to the creation of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.
