Event Description

Celebrate the arrival of spring at the Carter by joining the new Tea & Tours series. This three-week series is each Tuesday at 3 p.m. Carter docents will guide you through our current exhibitions and give you greater insight into the how and why of the works on view. Free for Carter members. Bring a guest for only $5. Registration is required.

Come for the tour. Stay for tea with friends. See you at the Carter!

Beauty and Life: The Finis Welch Collection shows a sampling of works from the late Finis Welch’s generous bequest to the Carter. See key works by leading 20th and 21st-century artists like Alfred Stieglitz and Richard Misrach, and share Welch’s deep appreciation for photography’s varied, vital language.

Stephanie Syjuco: Double Vision examines how some of the Carter’s most iconic works were part of a narrative claiming “the West” for the United States. Syjuco questions what kind of national mythology they created and for whom, and her installation reflects on the Museum’s role in interpreting that mythology for contemporary audiences.
