  • Description

Autograph letter signed. Tells that his recent letters express the same fears and concerns that he wrote to her long before they were married. Says he speaks of her “child’s world” and her running away from all care, but she has all her cares with her and there she can look at them with a “quiet mind.” Says he thinks she is deserting him, but tells that she is working hard every day on the house, the barn, her garden, and being a mother. Regrets that she is unable to help him with his problems, but rejoices that peace is on the way, even though the problems it will bring may not be fewer or easier than those of war.
