  • Description

Autograph letter signed. Says he makes her sound like such a “horrid” person and expresses doubt that he trusts anyone in his life. Tells him that she thinks he resents that he ever gave her anything - house, stock, or anything. Relates that money is not important to her and she doesn’t want to incorporate all of his projects into their home. Says he has enough projects in mind for ten lifetimes, but she says can “no longer postpone” living. Tells John Dorr that the “tie that binds” them is a spiritual one and the tie that separates them is a “material one.” Says she is not as young as he is and also, as a woman, she is quiet when she is happy with “an inner happiness.” Tells John Dorr that she would prefer it if he ran their West Branch home himself. Nell wants them to get away for a little while and that they “will solve this in [their] own Johnell fashion.”
