    Autograph letter signed. Reports that they enjoyed the shawl and book Dorr sent for them for Christmas. Apologizes that the packet of pictures sent to Dorr was so late. Says the late autumn has been filled with really productive work and now she needs rest and quiet and time to get ready for the new life that comes in a month. Says Christmas time has been a balm for them after the tragedy of November 22nd which left them and everyone feeling so empty. They had a series of visitors, relatives, and friends in early December, but they are now enjoying peace like that they found at Villa Serena [Dorr’s home in Connecticut]. Says Anne is a good companion and helper with household tasks, especially making bread.
