Description
Typed letter signed. Expresses his happiness at getting to talk with her. Apologizes for not sending her his work and says he is very timid about his friends reading his works or even knowing about them. Tells Dorr he is sending her an autographed paperback copy of Black Like Me. Says he loves the creative process, but loathes publishing and all that goes with it. Tells Dorr, “I still die of embarrassment when I am asked for an autograph.” Says he has finished an article on Jacques Maritain’s new book Le Paysan de la Garonne, even though he promised to help Maritain guard his privacy and had agreed not to write about him or his work until after Maritain’s death. But in this instance Maritain had asked him to do it.
