Description
Typed letter signed. Tells her he is sending her a portrait he made of Jacques Maritain who has written a dedication to her on it. Maritain asked Griffin if it would be proper to do that. Doctors found a severe generalized infection in his right ankle and left hip which will take about two months to heal. Reports that Griffin’s dad got him a rolling high chair to use in his darkroom. Griffin made a beautiful portrait of her which he intended to send to her, but Penn wanted it. Griffin’s own copy is already framed and on the wall so he will have to make another copy for her soon. Father Pire did not come; Griffin unsure why. Requests two autographed copies of Dorr’s book The Bare Feet to give to Jacques and to Robert and Leslie Bonazzi. Bishop Perry of New Orleans is coming tomorrow night. [Handwritten note on reverse says: “Look straight down into your own heart - The greatest wonder that you will find is simply that we exist main (or rain?)” No indication of who wrote it]
