  • Description

Typed letter signed. Tells Dorr he is enclosing a note he received from Mrs. Leonia M. Smith (mother of Clyde Kennard - the young Mississippi martyr who was refused treatment for cancer [and imprisoned on trumped up charges]). She asked about their baby girl so he sent her a note and some pictures of Amanda and sent her some money as well. He says when Mrs. Smith says in her letters that she is “not so able to do anything” he knows she is in need and sends her money. He said one time when she said that, he didn’t get the point and her electricity was shut off. He says no one will dare to give her work because of what was done to her son and because she took in Vernon Dahmer’s widow and son after he was burned to death by the Klan. He says if anyone gave her work, the racists would be all over them. He also tells Dorr that they celebrated today because it was his feast day, the Feast of St. John.
