Says he could possibly visit her May 8th and 9th. He was unable to come when he was in the area last week. Says he was bringing the photographs to edit the Asian Diaries with James Laughlin who is publishing them. Tells that his daughter Susan wants to go to school in Europe, so he and Susan are going to Amsterdam, Brussels (where he will give an international news conference), Strasbourg, Toulouse (to visit Jacques Maritain), Perpignan and Prades [France] (for photography and research on Thomas Merton’s young life), and then to Barcelona and Madrid. Says Susan is a “flawless assistant.” The family will return to France in the summer so Susan can go to the conservatory and Griffin can have some peace for his work.
