    u.l. to u.r. printed on paper label: Ka-ghe-sa-be, Black Crow- \ Crow black \ Chief of the Ni-ka-pa shna (Deer and Elk) gens. \ Father to Gi-ban-bi (Robert Clarkson), whom he \ placed in the Ponka mission house in 1872. An \ interesting account of the behaviour of this \ worthy man appeared in a letter from Mrs. M. S. \ Stanforth (associated with her son Rev. J. Owen Dorsey \ in the Ponka mission, 1871-3) to Wm. Welsh of Phila. \ Pa. in 1872, pub. in the Spirit of Missions, N.Y.
