The photographs of Métis artist Rosalie Favell reference family albums, archival materials, and popular culture to explore her experience as a contemporary Indigenous woman. She is best known for her collages and portraits, which feature the artist or members of her community. Favell holds a BSc from the Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (now known as Toronto Metropolitan University), Canada, an MFA from the University of New Mexico, and a PhD from Carleton University, Canada. Her recognitions include a Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award and the Karsh Award.
