Exhibition Talk: Gordon Parks: The New Tide, Early Work 1940–1950

October 24, 2019, 6–7:30 p.m.

Join us for two talks in one and learn about Gordon Parks and the formative decade that launched his photographic career. Philip Brookman, curator of the Gordon Parks:The New Tide, Early Work 1940–1950 exhibition from the National Gallery of Art, will share behind-the-scenes stories about organizing the show, including his personal relationship with Parks. Before Brookman’s presentation, Frederick W. Gooding Jr., Assistant Professor in the Honors College of TCU, will give a brief introduction about what was going on in the African American community during this important time. Both speakers will share the stage after their talks for a short discussion and Q&A.
