Imagine being swept away to artist studios, museums, galleries, and historic points dotted along the scenic, rugged Maine coastline. The Carter invites you to join us for four days and three nights at the luxurious Longfellow Hotel in Portland, Maine. Circle members can sign up now for this exciting adventure led by the Carter’s Director of Collections and Exhibitions and former Portland resident, Andrew Eschelbacher.
Our tour will begin in Portland, known for its charming 19th-century architecture tucked along the eastern peninsula. Members will venture into nearby Rockland, Waterville, Brunswick, and Scarborough. Trip highlights include:
- Visits to Winslow Homer’s studio, Portland Museum of Art, and the Victoria Mansion
- Tours of the Farnsworth Museum and Center for Contemporary Art in Rockland
- Zip up to Brunswick and Waterville for tours of Bowdoin College and Colby College Art Museums
- Visits to artist studios and private collections
Tour price is $3,400 per person based on double occupancy. Single supplement is $300. Participants are responsible for their travel arrangements. The tour includes three breakfasts, three lunches, and two dinners plus ground transportation. Starting on August 1, Sustainer and Patron members may register for the trip.
