Exhibition Talk: Flights of Fancy

November 14, 2019, 6–8 p.m.

Birds of a feather flock together, which is why we are combining beer flights and a talk about birds! Taste the varied concoctions made by local brewery Panther Island Brewing Company before learning about the Gentling brothers and the new exhibition Seeing in Detail: Scott and Stuart Gentling’s Birds of Texas. Jonathan Frembling, Gentling Curator and Head Museum Archivist, will discuss the brothers’ relationship and why the Carter acquired their work and archives. Spencer Wigmore, Assistant Curator of Paintings, Sculpture, and Works on Paper, will discuss the process of researching and creating multiple exhibitions of their work. Both speakers share the stage after their talks for a short discussion and Q&A.
