Artist Talk: Mitch Epstein

Photographer Mitch Epstein will share insights on his many pioneering photographic series and introduce his new western landscape project during this special artist talk. John Rohrbach, Senior Curator of Photographs, will then join him on stage for a discussion about his work in the context of other photography in the West. Mitch’s photograph, Weeping Beech, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn (2011), is included in the photography exhibition With the Help of Friends, which showcases photographs from the Amon Carter’s permanent collection that were purchased with help from the Photography Forum, part of the museum’s Circle membership Collectors Forum groups.

Want to spend more time with Epstein? Join the photography forum membership group today to get access to a post-lecture meet and greet with wine and hors d’oeuvres, and chat with the artist about photographic printmaking.

Reservations are required. Registration opens February 1.

Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon

Please join the Amon Carter and the Art+Feminism campaign at an edit-a-thon to improve Wikipedia’s coverage of gender, feminism, and the arts.

The museum’s edit-a-thon will focus on women in American art. Editors will work in the library reading room and have access to the library's near-comprehensive collection of research materials on American art.

All levels of editors are welcome, from beginner to advanced. Depending on your experience and time commitment, your contribution can range from correcting a few spelling and grammatical errors to creating a new article. We'll have experienced Wikipedians on hand to guide participants through all parts of the editing process. You only need to bring a laptop, and we’ll supply the rest! We’ll also provide snacks.

For more information, including training resources, visit our meetup page.
