Where can paintings take you?
The Books of Elsewhere, Volume One: The Shadows by Jacqueline West
(Recommended for homeschool students ages 9–11)
Prepare to be transported into another world—inside paintings! Prior to their museum visit, students should read Jacqueline West’s The Shadows, a spooky tale of an intelligent young girl who uses her wits to outsmart some nefarious characters who have escaped from their homes inside paintings. At the Amon Carter, gallery teachers help students’ imaginations run wild by exploring carefully selected artworks from the museum’s collection using a multisensory approach. Art-making opportunities are included throughout the program. Spectacles and flashlights included!
