Itty-Bitty Art: Infant Massage

Program for families with infants 0–11 months

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Brandi Cline, licensed massage therapist, as she leads an infant massage session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

Discover the health benefits of infant massage while learning how to teach your baby to relax. Learn to safely and effectively apply massage techniques to your child.

Registration for this program opens October 1.

Over the decade, North Texas photographer Dornith Doherty has traveled the globe to construct a visual meditation on the planet’s botanical diversity by showcasing the work of international seed banks and sharing the pure aesthetic pleasure of seeds and their transformations into plants. Wild Spaces, Open Seasons: Hunting and Fishing in American Art

Explore the current special exhibition

Meet at the special exhibition entrance for a guided tour of Wild Spaces, Open Seasons: Hunting and Fishing in American Art. This is the first major exhibition to explore the multifaceted meanings of such outdoor subjects in both painting and sculpture from the early nineteenth century to World War II. This exhibition encompasses a wide variety of portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and genre scenes, including iconic works by Thomas Cole, Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, and Augustus Saint-Gaudens, as well as key pictures by specialists in the category such as Charles Deas, Alfred Jacob Miller, William T. Ranney, and Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait. No reservations required.

An Amon Carter educator provides an overview of important African art from the ancient period to the present, including the African diaspora; historical contexts in which to view the artworks; and explanations about how these objects had an impact on African culture, history, and art history.

Navy Band Southwest

Musical performance in the museum's atrium

Enjoy an afternoon of music at the museum with the Navy Band Southwest’s brass quintet. This hour-long performance in the museum’s Atrium will fill the galleries with instrumental melodies and patriotic songs.

Navy Band Southwest is one of the U.S. Navy’s finest and oldest continuing musical organizations. Originating in 1923, Navy Band Southwest takes pride in upholding its rich tradition and promoting the pride and professionalism of today's United States Navy. Under the direction of Lieutenant Jane E. Hoffman, the band is located onboard Naval Base San Diego, and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the southwestern United States.

Please note that seating will be limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
