Security Control Room Operator
Immediate full-time opening to monitor museum facilities, visitors, fire and sprinkler systems, weather alerts, radio traffic, mechanical system alarms. Regularly scheduled 8-hour shifts (40-hr week includes some weekends). Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred. Minimum 2 years commissioned security experience, full-time law enforcement, or active duty military police/security experience. Prior Control Room experience including multiplexers, fire systems, digital recorders, radios, alarm control boxes. Firearms training preferred. Public Relations and Marketing Assistant
The Amon Carter Museum seeks a qualified individual to work with Public Information Officer to achieve media relations, public relations and marketing goals to represent the museum, its mission, and collection to the public art large. This position is part-time (approximately 25 hours per week).
Duties:
- Compose press release drafts, oversee distribution and posting of press releases, maintain updated media list;
- Ensure imagery for all permanent collection installations and special exhibitions is available to the media, obtain permissions for reproduction, fulfill requests for images;
- Maintain files on media coverage, measure impacts and editorial advertising equivalency, investigate new methods of public relations measurement;
- Draft copy for monthly communication pieces;
- Draft schedule for print, broadcast and online advertising for review by PIO and place media once approved;
- See advertising and related graphic design projects through the editing approval process and coordinate delivery of art to media outlets;
- Provide clerical support, produce purchase orders and check requests, order supplies, file, process mail, special projects, etc.
The successful candidate will possess a B. A. degree in public relations or marketing, or minimum of three years related experience (preferably art museum-related) working in print, broadcast, and electronic media or marketing; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; excellent organizational, editing, grammar, and proofing skills; familiar with Chicago and AP writing styles; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, to work under varying degrees of supervision and with multiple responsible parties; professional presence; diplomatic; comfortable in dynamic or challenging situations; computer proficiency with MS Office products. Assistant Curator of Paintings and Sculpture
The Amon Carter Museum seeks an assistant curator with expertise in 19th – and 20th – century American art to work with the Curator of Paintings and Sculpture to support all departmental activities including exhibitions, installations, and research relating to collection documentation, acquisitions, publications, and loans. Candidates must be able to work in a collaborative environment on multiple projects. The successful candidate will possess an M.A. in American Art (Ph.D. or A.B.D. preferred), a minimum of two years curatorial experience, and knowledge of standard museum practices, including familiarity with the technical aspects of works of art affecting their care, conservation, and presentation; proven research, writing, and public speaking abilities; computer, editing, and proofreading skills required. Grant Program Manager
The Amon Carter Museum seeks a qualified individual to implement and maintain an aggressive grant-seeking and corporate underwriting program for the Museum. Duties include working with the director of development and staff to identify funding prospects and plan strategy to support Museum programs including exhibitions, outreach activities, and other initiatives; research funding opportunities for current and proposed projects; establish appropriate contacts and cultivation of foundation and trust funding sources; assist with follow-up on solicitations and gifts with correspondence, and coordinate appropriate donor recognition; prepare, submit, and coordinate proposals with input from curators, educators and other staff as appropriate; meet reporting requirements for existing grants; establish annual grant calendar and maintain submission schedule; coordinate information with annual giving effort on donors with major giving potential. The successful candidate will possess a B. A. degree (minimum), demonstrated successful experience in major gifts fundraising with a focus on prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation; ability to work independently and to contribute within a team environment; experience with trust designations and knowledge of charitable gift tax regulations; excellent writing and research skills and an understanding of foundation/corporate community, successful funding track record preferably with art or museum focus, and proficiency with Windows 2K, Office XP and Raisers Edge. Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Photographs Conservation Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, Texas
The Amon Carter Museum is pleased to offer a two-year advanced-training fellowship in the conservation of photographic materials beginning in the fall of 2008. The fellow will participate in all departmental activities including examination, documentation, analysis, treatment, and research on the Carter’s extensive collection of photographs. The fellow will also contribute significantly to the institution’s exhibition program. Research on the collection is encouraged, and the fellow will be expected to produce a publishable paper before the end of the appointment based on research completed during the fellowship.
The fellowship will provide excellent hands-on treatment experience and practice in conservation management for museum collections. The fellow will gain professional experience in the conservation of photographs while commencing a conservation career.
Qualifications
Applicants should be graduates of a recognized graduate-level program in conservation, with a specialization in photographic materials, or be able to demonstrate the acquisition of equivalent skills and knowledge through work/life experience. A portfolio of treatments and research projects will be required of all applicants.
Compensation

Event Support Staff
Part-time. The Amon Carter Museum seeks qualified applicants to assist with museum and special events year-round. Duties include assist with preparation support during events (exhibition receptions, cultivation dinners, public programs, and corporate events, etc.). Setup tables, chairs, place settings, floral arrangements and assist with cleanup and breakdown after the event, mindful of the special nature of the art museum environment. Assist with event-related cleaning requests that require immediate attention and assist with emergency and evacuation procedures as requested. Reports to Events and Building Services Coordinator. Qualifications: Prior VIP event experience preferred. Must be willing to work according to the museum’s varied events schedule, able to follow instructions and work well with and without immediate supervision, able to read, understand and agree to follow all museum safety and security instructions, able to move, lift and carry objects and food trays, able to stand and/or walk for long periods. Willingness to train to handle food. Good personal grooming required. Must be responsible, reliable and available to work the schedule necessary to support museum events, which may include early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.
