Getting There

Where do I park?
Our parking lot will be closed for food trucks, but free parking is available at the UNT Health Science Center lot and east garage on Clifton Street (immediately north of the museum). Paid parking is available at Will Rogers Memorial Center off Lancaster Avenue.

What does it cost to get in? Do I need a ticket?
This community event is free to attend. No tickets are required! Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site from local food trucks. Alcohol purchases will require valid ID. Save the date and RSVP to our free event!

Where do I enter?
Event entrances will be on Camp Bowie Boulevard and Lancaster Avenue. Please note that Will Rogers Road will be closed between Lancaster Avenue and Camp Bowie Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the day of the event.

What time should I arrive?
The event kicks off at 10 a.m. and continues through 10 p.m., so you can play all day and party all night with the Carter! The inside of the museum will remain open from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. for Party on the Porch. Portable restrooms outside will be available.

What should I wear?
Our activities will happen all day both inside and outside, so we suggest you wear casual, comfortable clothing and shoes!

Is this event wheelchair accessible?
Yes! Party on the Porch is celebrating the museum’s reopening in 2019 which includes enhanced accessibility to the museum’s main entrance. For additional accessibility-related questions and/or needs, please email

What happens if it rains?
Party on the Porch will happen rain or shine! In case of dangerous inclement weather, please follow our social media accounts (@theamoncarter) and check our website for updates.

Where should I stay?
If you are looking for a place to stay, our hotel partner Aloft Fort Worth Downtown has provided a block of rooms. Book online.

What to bring

Is this event family friendly?
Yes! Party on the Porch is fun for all ages! We’ll have hands-on activities inside the museum and outside on the grounds for everyone to enjoy.

Can I bring my lawn chair?
Yes, bring your lawn chairs and blankets and snag your spot on the lawn to enjoy the evening! Don’t want to bring your own? We will have limited seating available throughout our campus. Please note that lawn chairs cannot be brought inside the museum.

Can I bring my dog?
Given the size and nature of this event, we ask that you leave your dog at home. This is best for your pup, as the noise and crowd levels may feel overwhelming to many of our beloved furry family members. Thanks for your cooperation! Any leash-trained furry friends that do attend are welcome on the lower lawn, but only service animals are permitted in the museum’s building. Please note, that the stage will not be visible on the lower lawn.

Do I need cash?
Food trucks and bars will take both cash and credit cards, but cash will help the lines move faster!

What CAN’T I bring?
Please leave your pets and coolers at home. We ask that you do not bring outside food or drink and that you support our local food truck vendors who will be on-site.

I’m a member! Is there something special for me?
We love our members! Members get access to our VIP area, with free drinks and bites. Not a member? Join at the event to enjoy VIP perks!

When will the bands play?
DJ Ronnie Heart will kick off the night 6 p.m.; Abraham Alexander will keep the party going beginning at 7:00 p.m.; and The Band of Heathens will close the night out starting at 8:30 p.m.

What food trucks will be there?
You can grab dinner from a variety of local food trucks.

What can I drink?
Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Don’t forget to bring your ID! Carter members will have access to a special VIP area with free drinks and lite bites throughout the evening as well. Not a member? Join today!

What’s going on inside the museum?
Galleries will be open from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Celebrate our reopening with a full day of fun and free activities. A variety of free creative experiences will be offered, including exploring our new galleries, connecting with our collection with hands-on crafting, and dropping by the new interactive Family Pop-up space all day long. Along with the reopening, the Carter will be unveiling multiple special exhibitions and highlights from our permanent collection. Will there be areas to explore on the museum campus?
Plenty! In addition to our wide array of food trucks, visitors will have the opportunity to keep themselves entertained all day long! All outdoor events kickoff in the evening before the concert. Between art-making and delicious drinks, the evening is certain to be a blast. You can collaborate with one of our Carter Community Artists to help create a giant artwork, let your little ones play and create by the Henry Moore sculptures at our Kid Pop-Up Studio, and skip the long lines to snag a drink from our exclusive member VIP bar.
