Russell loved the holidays, and the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas was always busy with numerous projects that included handmade objects of every description that were intended as presents to family and friends. This small watercolor of a wild turkey belonged to Sid Willis, the proprietor of the Mint Saloon in Great Falls, and it is possible that it came to him with some sort of holiday wish from his old friend.
