Accessibility

The Carter is committed to helping all visitors enjoy its exhibitions of American art through accessible facilities and programs.

There is a designated barrier-free entrance near accessible parking for vehicles displaying the appropriate disability permits. Both the entrance and parking locations are on Lancaster Avenue, on the museum’s south side. This parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis; simply ask any museum Gallery Attendant. All floors are accessible by elevator. The Carter is also equipped with accessible restrooms, drinking fountains, and public telephones.

Complimentary assistive listening devices are available for use during public programs or guided tours. Ask the manager of the program you are attending for help with these devices.

Assistive listening devices are generously provided by Woodard Insurance, L.L.P., and Joan A. Wells.
