The education department invites you to visit the Teaching Resource Center (TRC), a well-stocked lending library of free resources on American art, history, and art-making techniques in a wide range of formats, including teacher guides, videos, books for adults and children, reproductions, and study prints. The TRC is also a regional distributor for the National Gallery of Art’s extension programs.
Materials are available year-round and may be borrowed by staff from schools, homeschools, and universities in North Texas. The loan period is typically two weeks long.
You may browse through the TRC database to find materials and resources. The Teaching Resources Coordinator is also available to suggest materials to use in your classroom. Email trc [at] cartermuseum [dot] org (trc@cartermuseum.org) or call 817.989.5035 to discuss resources appropriate for your needs.
Please request materials at least two weeks in advance. Allow time to preview materials before classroom use. Some programs may contain language or images inappropriate for certain grade levels.
Teachers must pay for the return postage of materials.
Note: For all videos, please use bubble-padded envelopes (dust from fiber-filled envelopes damages tapes).
Add to your educational toolbox by visiting del.icio.us, a Web-based bookmark site with links to topics such as architecture, art education, cartography, science meets art, and westward expansion. These links offer information and lesson plans to enhance your classroom experience, and each entry is tagged by suggested grade levels. Explore items tagged “TRC Materials Available” for sites related to resources available for free loan from the Teaching Resource Center.
