The Blade's Art Section on Thursday, Oct. 21 included a photo of "The Lonesome West" by Arturo Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez's artwork appears to be a plagiarized painting by the famous and revered western artist, Frederic Remington, called "The Cowboy".

We have a framed reproduction on canvas of this very famous artwork in our home. We purchased it years ago from the Amon Carter Museum in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Why is it alright for Mr. Rodriguez to represent his artwork as original when it is clearly a plagiarized copy? How can this be legal? We were appalled to see this abuse of Frederic Remington's work.
