This small model of a log cabin was fashioned by Russell at some point and became part of the collection of the artist’s works put together by his old friend Sid Willis, proprietor of the Mint Saloon in Great Falls. It was originally thought to have been a preliminary model for the artist’s summer home on the shores of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park, but the cabin that was eventually built there does not bear any resemblance to this model.
