Amon Carter Online Projects

Take your students to nineteenth-century Texas, Antarctica, the American West, and elsewhere without leaving your classroom! Visit the Amon Carter’s online teaching resources for images, information on artworks and artists, discussion questions, and classroom activities for all grade levels tied to state and national standards.

Offers activities to encourage students to look for visual elements in photographs: framing/composition, angle of view, color, texture, light quality, and focus and to consider artist’s choices. The guide includes tips for using cameras with students and making school photography projects economically feasible. Artists represented include Berenice Abbott, Laura Gilpin, Lewis Hine, Skeet McAuley, and Alfred Stieglitz.
