Eastman, Seth BALLPLAY OF THE DAKOTA ON THE ST. PETER'S RIVER IN WINTER 1848 (Poster)

Depicts a large group of Dakota Sioux Indians playing in the snow with balls and sticks. Eastman was a soldier and draughtsman who painted scenes including American Indians throughout his military career. He also worked on illustrations for Henry Schoolcraft's monumental work, "Information Respecting the History, Condition, and Prospects of the Indian Tribes of the United States (1851-1857)."
