Audubon’s Passion
Enjoy a rare opportunity to view some of the earliest prints from John James Audubon’s double-elephant-folio prints from The Birds of America. Admission is free.
Included in this exibition are the so-called Bonaparte Audubons, which were among the first of the Audubon Birds. This early-issue set of prints was originally sent by Audubon to Napolean Bonaparte’s nephew, a leading ornithologist in his day. Also included is the Carter library’s first American edition of the Birds (1840–44).
