What’s your Savvy?
Savvy by Ingrid Law
(Recommended for homeschool students ages 12 and up)
Prior to their museum visit, students should read Ingrid Law’s Savvy. Vivid language and a fast-paced plot keep students enthralled in this story about growing up (but not too fast) and being different. At the Amon Carter, gallery teachers help students make connections between the characters, setting, and storyline in Savvy and the larger themes of acceptance, the importance of family, and wild adventures by using specific examples from the Amon Carter’s collection and grounds. The program concludes with a Savvy-inspired art activity that students can take home.
