(Recommended for homeschool students ages 11 and up)
Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick
Prior to their museum visit, students should read Brian Selznick’s Wonderstuck. Rich illustrations and imaginative storytelling keep students enthralled in this visually and intellectually stunning book. At the Amon Carter, gallery teachers help students make connections between the characters, setting, and plot in Wonderstruck and the larger themes of curating and collecting by using specific examples from the Amon Carter’s history, collection, and building. The program concludes with an in-depth sketching lesson and art activity.
