A New American Sculpture, 1914-1945: Lachaise, Laurent, Nadelman, and Zorach

Explore the current special exhibition

Meet at the special exhibition entrance for a guided of A New American Sculpture, 1914–1945: Lachaise, Laurent, Nadelman, and Zorach. This is the first exhibition to investigate the integral relationships between modernism, classicism, and popular imagery in the interwar sculpture of Gaston Lachaise, Robert Laurent, Elie Nadelman, and William Zorach. Assembled from public and private collections, this exhibition of approximately 55 sculptures and 20 drawings addresses the remarkable affinities between the work of four divergent and competitive personalities, who redefined sculpture's expressive potential during the turbulent interbellum period.

Join physics master teacher Dr. Karen J. Matsler and the artists Ellen Carey and Gabriel Dawe as they explore optics, physics, light and color in human perception and in art. The presentation and panel discussion will be followed by a book signing with the artists.

Homeschool Tour: All About Stuart Davis

For students 5–18 years

FREE

Students will learn about the life, artworks, and artistic processes of Stuart Davis (1892–1964), who experimented with abstraction, landscapes, and portraiture during his prolific career. Gallery teachers will introduce new ways to look at and appreciate Davis’s artworks and facilitate a Davis-inspired art project that students can take home.

Students will be divided into groups by age. Parents may drop off or stay with their students for this tour.

The Amon Carter will only accept registrations from primary caregivers. Registration for this program opens April 15.

Sensory Saturdays

Program for families with children on the autism spectrum

This is a free program for families with children who are 5 to 12 years old and on the autism spectrum. Families will have time to explore artworks in the galleries and get creative during a hands-on, art-making experience!

While the needs of individuals with autism are the focus of this program, it is also intended to be fun for parents, siblings (of all ages), and other relatives!

This program is offered on the second Saturday of every month.

Registration for this program opens May 1.

VOICES of Fort Worth

Vocal performance in the museum's Atrium

Vocal ensemble VOICES of Fort Worth will provide an afternoon of musical selections inspired by the museum’s collection. This local group of vocalists will perform in the museum’s Atrium, offering the opportunity to spread their melodic harmonies throughout the galleries.

Founded in 2012, VOICES is a consort of highly skilled singers whose vocal blend and exceptional musicianship combine to create a unique presentation that spans every musical period from early Renaissance to contemporary music, including original compositions and arrangements by Artistic Director and founder, Dr. Jerome Bierschenk.

Please note that seating will be limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
