Itty-Bitty Art: Yoga

Infant Program

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Miranda Davis, owner of PerfectFit Yoga, Pilates, and Wellness, as she leads an age-appropriate yoga session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

Using artwork as inspiration, you will create a unique, playful, intimate, and joyful yoga practice. Enjoy deep breathing, simplistic yoga movement and postures, and plenty of time to relax and bond with your baby.

Please wear comfortable clothing and a baby carrier (front carrying) if you have it. Yoga mats and blocks will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

The Invention of Wings

Book Club

Prior to the program, read Sue Monk Kidd’s The Invention of Wings (2014). During the program, readers and museum educators gather in the galleries and discuss its connection with the exhibition Identity. Refreshments will be provided after the discussion.

Itty-Bitty Art: Movement

Infant Program

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Taleisha Jones, instructor at The Little Gym with a background in psychology and child development, as she leads an age-appropriate session that includes movement activities inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

This program’s curriculum is designed to help build the skills needed as children become mobile. It will focus on skills to promote inner ear development and strengthen your child’s core to help with balance and stabilization. While your child discovers new movements, colors, and sounds with fascination and joy, you’ll discover new smile muscles you never knew you had!

Children should be dressed in comfortable clothing (dresses are not ideal) for this program. Also, please bring a burp cloth.

Sharing the Past Through Art

Access Program

Designed for adults with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers, participants discuss artists, exhibitions, and themes, and use artworks to connect to past experiences.

This program is offered on the second Thursday of every month. Call 817.989.5030 or email visitors@cartermuseum.org to receive helpful instructions and parking information.

There is a designated barrier-free entrance near accessible parking for vehicles displaying the appropriate disability permits on Lancaster Avenue (the museum’s south side). If these spaces are full, you may drop off participants at the museum’s Lancaster entrance and park personal vehicles and minibuses in the museum lot located on Camp Bowie.

Stories, nursery rhymes, finger plays, and art are essential to an infant’s intellectual development. Caregivers will discover how to nurture and cultivate infants’ sense of hearing and sight through books, illustrations, and more!

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a blanket.

Sensory Saturdays

Family Access Program

This is a free program for families with children who are 5 to 12 years old and on the autism spectrum. Families will have time to explore artworks in the galleries and get creative during a hands-on, art-making experience!

While the needs of individuals with autism are the focus of this program, it is also intended to be fun for parents, siblings (of all ages), and other relatives!

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with A. J. Bowman-Shelton, founder of LACA Inc. (Linking Across Cultures and Ages), as she leads an age-appropriate sign language session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

Learn fundamental signs and insights that will help facilitate a stronger bond between you and your little one. By using colors, shapes, and sculptures, start a conversation and discover that communicating with babies is not as abstract as you may have thought!

Please bring a stroller and/or a babywearing wrap (if you have one).
