Artful Alphabet: DEFG

Storytime

Use the alphabet to discover artworks at the Amon Carter! This week, bring your family for stories, art exploration, and art making inspired by the letters D, E, F, and G. Snacks will be provided. No reservations are required.

During each Storytime, caregivers can register their participating children to win that week’s featured books. A drawing will be held at the end of each program; those chosen do not need to be present to win.

This program is best for families with children ages eight and under and their adult companions. If you work for a summer school or day care, we offer a customized experience for your students on a different day. Please call 817.989.5036 or email schooltours@cartermuseum.org for more information.

I Don’t Get It: Untangling Abstract Expressionism

Gallery Talk

Engage with Amon Carter Curator Shirley Reece-Hughes as she discusses abstract expressionism in the special exhibition Procession: The Art of Norman Lewis. Abstract Expressionism, a 1940s art movement, consisted of a group of loosely affiliated artists, including Norman Lewis. Discover how Lewis and others radically changed accepted conventions of painting technique and subject matter.

Trivia Night

Adult Program

Put on your thinking cap for a casual evening of trivia inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection. Bring a group (up to six people per team) or come alone, and enjoy snacks, drinks, and prizes during this friendly competition. Questions will cover a wide range of topics, so no art history degree is required! Participants in this program must be at least 18 years of age.

Sunset Cinema: An American Tail: Fievel Goes West

Outdoor Film Series

Pack a picnic, grab some friends, and watch An American Tail: Fievel Goes West (1991, G) on the museum’s lawn. No reservations are required.

Lawn opens at 6 p.m.; film begins at 8:30 p.m. Lawn chairs, blankets, and coolers are welcome. No glass bottles or pets please.

Sensory Saturdays

Family Access Program

Sensory Saturdays is a free program for families with children who are five to twelve years old and on the autism spectrum. Families will have time to explore artworks in the galleries and get creative during a hands-on, art-making experience!

While the needs of individuals with autism are the focus of this program, it is also intended to be fun for parents, siblings (of all ages), and other relatives!
