Itty-Bitty Art: Infant Massage

Infant Program

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Brandi Cline, licensed massage therapist, as she leads an infant massage session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

Discover the health benefits of infant massage while learning how to teach your baby to relax. Learn to safety and effectively apply massage techniques to your child.

Itty-Bitty Art: Play

Infant Program

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Audrey Rowland, early childhood specialist, as she leads an age-appropriate play session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

In this session, examine what types of play infants enjoy, what types of materials extend play and curiosity, and play’s impact on brain development. You will also explore materials that are more valuable to play than the typical toys.

Infant Program

Bring your baby (up to 11 months) to the Amon Carter for an art-filled experience! Engage with Sarah Newton as she leads an age-appropriate creative movement session inspired by the Amon Carter’s collection.

Creative movement is an inclusive movement experience that utilizes the body to express an emotion, explore an idea, or discover new movement potential. In this session, you will move with your baby, discovering the joy and possibilities of movement in relationship to the elements of art.

Are We There Yet?

Storytime
Are you ready for a summer vacation? Then Storytime at the Amon Carter is the place to be!

This week, it’s all about transportation, so hop on your bike, catch a plane, or jump in the car to your next adventure. Bring your family to hear stories, look at art, and create something inspired by travel! A snack will be provided.

During each Storytime, adults can register their participating children to win that week’s featured books. A drawing will be held at the end of each program; those chosen do not need to be present to win.

The Last Picture Show

Book Club

Prior to the program, read Larry McMurtry’s The Last Picture Show (1966). During the program, readers and museum educators gather in the galleries and discuss the book’s connection with the Amon Carter’s vast collection of western artwork, including large-scale portraits by photographer Richard Avedon. Refreshments will be provided after the discussion.

Sensory Saturdays

Family Access Program

This is a free program for families with children who are 5 to 12 years old and on the autism spectrum. Families will have time to explore artworks in the galleries and get creative during a hands-on, art-making experience!

While the needs of individuals with autism are the focus of this program, it is also intended to be fun for parents, siblings (of all ages), and other relatives!
