Yellowstone Moran: Painting the American West by Lita Judge

Thomas Moran is the inspiration for this fall’s homeschool book club selection. Students will learn about this great American landscape painter as they journey through the American West by looking at paintings and sculptures from the Amon Carter Museum’s collection. Students will also learn about Moran’s role in establishing the National Park System and create their own Moran-inspired work of art.

Space is limited, and preregistration and prepayment are required for registration to be complete: $20 for children of members and $25 for children of nonmembers. The program fee includes a copy of the book, which can be mailed to program participants or picked up at the museum prior to the program. Call or e-mail for multiple family member discounts. Students will be divided into groups by age. Parents are encouraged to drop their students off at the museum for this program as there is no parental instruction.
