Out and About
The Carter is closed for the summer, but you can still see works of art from our collection. Here’s how:
Museums frequently loan works of art to each other for exhibitions. Whenever you go to an art museum, chances are you will see art borrowed from other institutions. It’s a win-win situation: it makes exhibitions more interesting and increases exposure for the lending museum. Even though the Carter is closed for the summer, many pieces from our permanent collection are currently on view at other institutions around the state.
- The exhibition Patterns of Progress: Birds Eye Views of Texas, which contains over 30 prints and drawings from the Carter’s collection, is at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas through June 10
- Frederic Remington’s painting A Dash for the Timber will be on view at the Sid Richardson Museum in Fort Worth until July 1
- Laura Gilpin’s photographs of the Navajo is in the exhibition The American Twenties at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center in Austin through July 29
If you happen to be in Canyon, Austin, or downtown Fort Worth, stop by and take a look!
