Nineteenth-Century Style
Museums take their work very seriously. That’s why we all jump when we come across some bit of museum-oriented humor. Mustaches of the Nineteenth Century is one of my favorite new(ish) blogs in the museum/library/archive community. All of the long, luxurious facial hair on the site comes from photos in the University of Kentucky archives. The blog is, well, lighthearted, but it did inspire me to look for examples of stunning mustaches in our own collection.
As it turns out, you can see a striking example of hirsuteness in the Carter’s galleries right now. So it’s technically a 20th-century mustache, but it’s a looker nonetheless.
