Bonjour, Rouen
The Carter has two important Remington and Russell paintings featured in the exhibition Mythologie de l’Ouest dans l’art américain, 1830-1940, which opens at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen, France this Friday.
Loops and Swift Horses are Surer than Lead, by Charles Russell, and The Smoke Signal, by Frederic Remington, were delivered to Rouen and installed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts last week along with other major works of Western art from museums across the United States. The exhibition will travel on to Rennes and Marseilles, France in 2008.
